Abe Burmeister: Creating a Quality Clothing Brand

Here is a great story of a graphic designer fed up with the lack of quality in the clothing game. Abe Burmeister took it into his own hands creating, Outlier Clothing.

In this talk from PSFK CONFERENCE NYC, Abe Burmeister explains how a punk-rock ethic helped him create a business building a new niche in a market he had no experience in. Abe just wanted a pair of pants he could both ride his bike and go to work in – and all his partner Tyler needed was a shirt that stayed fresh despite his pedal-powered commute. The Outlier co-founder describes how the duo paired intensive research in New York’s garment district with the connectivity of the web to create Outlier – a performance fashion business that only sells over the web.

This video shows the layer technique used by the artist Riusuke Fukahori 深堀隆介. Transparent liquid resin – mixed with a hardener or catalyst – is poured. When the resin has set into a solid, the surface is painted with acrylic paint. By repeating this process, the artist is able to create three dimensional sculptural pieces.

Cubelets: Build-A-Robot

Toys of the future? Cubelets just might be. What we’d have given to play with these as kids. Jealousy aside, these innovative robot cubes should be fun, even for us adults. For $160 you can create all different kinds of your own robots, here’s how:

Cubelets KT06 Kit Details

The KT06 kit contains 6 Cubelets that can be snapped together to make a variety of robots with no programming and no wires. You can build robots that drive around on a tabletop, respond to light and other objects, and have surprisingly lifelike behavior. But instead of programming that behavior, you snap the cubelets together and watch the behavior emerge like with a flock of birds or a swarm of bees.

Take a look at Cubelets in action.
